Our Story
At Gion Banh Mi & Tea, we’re on a mission to share the bold, vibrant flavors of authentic Vietnamese cuisine with the world—one sandwich at a time.
Founded in 2018 and formerly known as Oh’s Sandwiches, our family-owned shop in West Seattle has earned a loyal following and was even featured in The Seattle Times for serving up some of the best bánh mì in the city. Every sandwich we craft is a love letter to Vietnamese tradition, made with care using house-prepared ingredients, savory meats, and our signature crispy giòn baguette. Whether you're pairing your meal with a creamy Vietnamese coffee or a refreshing bubble tea, you're in for a taste that’s both comforting and unforgettable.
But bánh mì isn’t just a sandwich—it’s a flavor-packed fusion of history and culture! 📜 The term bánh mì originally referred only to the bread, a French baguette brought to Vietnam during colonial rule in the late 1800s. After 1954, Vietnamese cooks transformed it with pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and bold, savory fillings. Today, this humble street food has become a global favorite—from the food stalls of Saigon to kitchens like ours in Seattle. At Gion, we celebrate that journey with every bite: crispy bread, savory meats, fresh toppings, and flavors that tell a story. Taste the tradition at Gion! 🥖✨
